What. A. Day! Thank you to everyone who came out to our first annual winter virtual golf event on January 20th. We had an amazing turnout. In addition to presenting Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital with a check for $20,000 for our Parent Plate Program fund, we are happy to report that we raised over $8,000 for families with critically ill children in the hospital!
We are happy to announce the winners of the 9-hole scramble: Kelsey Romero, Eggy Romero, Johnny Johnson, and Maggie Durso! Congratulations! We have been in touch with the team and will be delivering their prizes soon.
A special thank you to Golf Cove in North Haven; Co-Owners Paul DeStefano and Chris McDermott, and Manager EJ. It cannot be understated how fantastic these guys are. They were an integral part of the success of this event – from planning, to marketing and publicity, to hosting. They were a pleasure to work with and took a genuine interest in our mission. The food was great, drinks flowed. We have received rave reviews from all of our guests. We look forward to holding many more events at Golf Cove. If you’re looking to plan an event, or just want to get a quick round in, definitely check them out.
Rumanoff’s Jewelers, and Leslie DeStefano in particular, learned about our nonprofit and the golf event and surprised us with limited edition bracelets, custom designed to support those battling pediatric cancer. On sale for $34.99 (check them out here) all proceeds go to Feeding Families Foundation and #LucaWarrier, a five-year-old battling brain cancer. How do you thank someone for such an unbelievable act of kindness? We’re still trying to figure it out. If any reader has any idea, we’re all ears. In the meantime, if you’re in the market for jewelry, check out Rumanoff’s Jewelers.
To our event sponsors: thank you, thank you, thank you! Dental Implants and Periodontics of Connecticut, with offices in Meriden and Waterbury, was the first to sponsor a golf room. Town Fair Tire sponsored the last two rooms available. Beirne, a registered investment advisor; Kenyon Electric Grills, the leading manufacturer of electric grills in the country; and Pro Plumber and Drain Service LLC, one of the highest rated plumbers in New Haven County, also sponsored rooms. Thank you for your support.
Finally, thank you to our amazing photographer – Nicole Mele Photography, an award-winning photographer based in North Haven. Nicole captured so many wonderful, candid moments of our event. She donated her time and abilities, and we are so very grateful. We cannot wait to hold our next event and use her services again.
Feeding Families Foundation thanks all of these great businesses for recognizing the importance of our mission and helping us help parents of critically ill children in the hospital get back to what matters most – caring for their child.
