On Chord Music Collective is a newly established organization that holds One Day Choir Fundraisers to benefit local charities. For its inaugural event, On Chord, at the suggestion of a local Fairfield resident currently receiving treatment at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale Children’s Hospital, selected Feeding Families Foundation as the first recipient of its fundraising efforts. The first One Day Choir Fundraiser will feature “Hey Jude” by The Beatles.

All proceeds will go to Feeding Families Foundation to support its Parent Plate Program at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. The Program currently covers the cost of one meal per day for the parent/caregiver that is staying with their child on the hematology/oncology floor of Smilow Cancer Hospital. In time, FFF hopes to expand the Program to Yale New Haven’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as well as cover the cost of additional meals each day for parents.

Feeding Families Foundation, Inc. is a charitable organization working to eliminate hospital food insecurity for parents of hospitalized children. Feeding Families Foundation’s Parent Plate Program addresses food affordability and accessibility issues parents often face when caring for their child in the hospital by covering the cost of caregiver meals and by having those meals delivered to the room so parents do not need to leave their child’s bedside or spend money on food when their child is inpatient. By partnering with children’s hospitals, the Parent Plate Program utilizes the hospital’s existing food service infrastructure to provide food to parents. When a parent orders a tray for their child, they can also order one for themselves paid for by Feeding Families Foundation.

The Program does not require any application or proof of financial need – the goal is to feed caregivers and alleviate some of the financial burden on parents when their child is in the hospital so they can get back to what matters most – caring for their child.
